GCCI seminar on info security
Gomantak Times April 17, 2002 Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with the Goa government organized a full day seminar on information security and cyber laws on 12 April at Hotel Mandovi. The programme was conducted by Rohas Nagpal, president Asian School of Cyber Laws, Pune. It was a largely attended by GCCI members, software professionals, government officials, invites and others. In his presentation Rohas Nagpal covered various kinds of electronic threats which the modern world is facing and the objectives of information security. He gave an overview of cryptography, its merits and demerits. He explained the creation and verification of digital signatures and also certificate and certifying authorities. He clarified a number of questions posed by the participants with regard to the electronic threat and the remedies available at present. In the afternoon Nagpal covered the aspects of cyber crime and other crime tools used for an unlawful act by using computers. Further, he explained in detail the financial crimes, cyber pornography, sale of illegal articles, on-line gambling, email spoofing, forgery, cyber defamation, cyber stalking, email bombing, theft of information, data diddling, salami attacks, denial of service anack, virus/worms anacks, Trojan attacks, internet time thefts, web jacking, theft of computer system and physically damaging a computer system. Earlier Sandeep Verenkar, chairman, IT Committee, GCCI welcomed the faculty and other participants and Air Cmde P K Pinto A VSM (Retd), executive secretary, GCCI proposed a vote of thanks. |
