Cyber Slavery and Cyber Law
1. What is Cyber Slavery?
Cyber slavery is a form of human trafficking where individuals are lured into fraudulent online jobs and forced into criminal activities under threat of punishment.
These threats are not empty - in cases of cyber slavery when victims refuse to comply, they are beaten or denied food and water.
2. Real-Life Story
India is currently in the process of rescuing thousands of cyber-slaves from Cambodia.
The victims were baited by high-paying job offers. Once in Cambodia, they had their passports seized. They were forced to pretend to be women on dating apps to honeytrap Indians.
The goal was to lure men on dating apps into investing in fake cryptocurrency schemes.
If the victims refused to follow instructions or failed to meet minimum requirements, they were punished by being deprived of food and water.
