A structured learning path for women professionals and students who want to lead in technology law, privacy, and cybersecurity compliance. Digital harm is the fastest-growing area of legal practice in India and the practitioners who understand it are still rare. This track was built to close that gap.

ASCL March Scholarship: This track is available at ₹15,900 (GST included) — supported entirely by ASCL's scholarship fund. Available until 31 March 2026 or until the fund is exhausted, whichever comes first.

Digital law is the fastest-growing practice area in India. Women are underrepresented in it.

Technology companies, startups, financial institutions, and government bodies all need professionals who understand data protection, cybersecurity compliance, and digital contracts. The roles exist. The pipeline does not.

AI-generated content has made cybercrime both easier to commit and harder to prosecute. Digital harm including deepfakes, synthetic abuse, data exploitation, privacy violations disproportionately targets women. Yet the practitioners who specialise in digital law are overwhelmingly men. That asymmetry matters: it affects the advice women receive, the frameworks built to protect them, and who leads the legal response to technology-enabled harm.

This track was built to close that gap.

Why Representation in Digital Law Is Not Optional

Women are 15% of India's lawyers and fewer than 2% of Bar Council leadership. They are also the majority of India's cybercrime victims.

That is not coincidence. It is consequence.

In November 2025, the National Commission for Women called for a comprehensive overhaul of India's cyber laws, because the existing framework does not adequately protect women from deepfakes, digital stalking, or AI-driven abuse. India's Draft Data Protection Rules were publicly critiqued as ‘gender-blind by design’ promising stronger privacy while completely overlooking the structural inequities that make digital space more dangerous for women than for men.

Laws reflect the priorities of the people who write them. When women are absent from the rooms where laws policies and compliance frameworks are drafted, women's realities remain invisible in the text.

This is the gap the Women in Digital Law Leadership Track is built to address. Not because of a quota. Because the law works better when the people most affected by it have a seat at the table. And most importantly because we at ASCL believe we can make a difference.

Certificate in Data Protection Law

CDPL

India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act has arrived. The practitioners who understand it deeply are still rare. This programme covers the DPDP Act 2023, GDPR principles, privacy audits, and compliance roles — the most in-demand specialisation in digital law right now.
